I watched The Black Balloon tonight, against my better judgment.
It was thoroughly disgusting. Charlie was made out to be a “freak show”, Thomas was sainted even after landing Charlie in the hospital, there was so much wrong with the movie I don’t know where to begin. Nobody was likable except for the female characters, in my opinion.
And
I will never understand why people can’t seem to make films about the disabled that aren’t patronizing or inaccurate tripe. Or why everyone else seems to find that sort of garbage so uplifting.
